AN OLD FAVOURITE
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip may be a new phone with some pretty groundbreaking technology, but when it comes to design, it has its roots firmly in the past. Also known as a clamshell design, flip phones have been around since 1996. Motorola’s STARTAC was small and portable, and weighed in at just under 113 grams, making it really popular with people who were still new to the idea of carrying mobile phones.
It featured calls, SMS text messages, vibrate alerts and a back-up battery. While not having any of the features we’re all used to having on modern phones, it was practical, and became something of a fashion accessory, too.
