WHEN DID CAVEMEN FIRST PAINT IN CAVES?

The oldest known cave painting was discovered in Indonesia, on the island of Sulawesi, and is thought to be at least 45,500 years old. In order to recreate pictures, scientists claim that humans needed a ‘higher order consciousness’ – in other words, a sophisticated way of thinking. Until the Indonesian paintings were discovered, the earliest known cave artwork was in France, which was thought to have been painted around 32,000 years ago.
