When was the United Kingdom formed?

The UK was formed over a long period of time. In 1707, under the Acts of Union, the Kingdom of Scotland joined with the Kingdom of England, which already included Wales, forming the Kingdom of Great Britain. In 1801 the Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland was created when Ireland decided to join the union, but this all changed in 1922 when Éire withdrew, leaving only Northern Ireland as part of the UK.
