DISCOVERING MINI-MOONS
Small, low-density moons can be found in Saturn’s rings
1 ATLAS
Radius: 9.4 miles
Orbiting around Saturn’s A ring, Atlas has a distinctive UFO shape with a smooth ridge.
2 EPIMETHEUS
Radius: 36 miles
This moon is covered in several craters over 18 miles wide. It orbits Saturn between the F and G rings.
3 PANDORA
Radius: 25.3 miles
Pandora is located near Saturn’s F ring. The moon is covered in icy debris.
4 DAPHNIS
Radius: 2.3 miles
The gravitational pull of Daphnis creates ripples at the edge of the Keeler Gap, a significant gap between Saturn’s rings.
5 PAN
Radius: 8.7 miles
This is the closest named moon to Saturn. It lies in the Encke Gap of the A-ring.
