SPIDER SILK IS ANTIBIOTIC
17
Spider silk has many amazing properties and abilities, but being an antibacterial agent is not one of them. Throughout history silk has been seen as a remedy for healing wounds and a defence against pathogens due to its supposed antibacterial chemical compounds. The practice of treating wounds with spider webs has been discovered in ancient Greek and Roman medicine. Several studies have investigated the medicinal properties of spider silk. While some anecdotal evidence supports some antibiotic ability, recent combative studies have challenged the methodology behind these studies and concluded the findings are inaccurate.
