Sensational Bournemouth shock Reds

-

NATHAN AKE’S stoppage-time goal secured Bournemouth their firstever win over Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s side capitulated to lose ground on the Blues in the Premier League title race.

Seemingly coasting to a win which would have taken them to within a point of leaders Chelsea, the Reds came undone as Bournemouth substitute Ryan Fraser led the comeback charge as the hosts sealed a memorable 4-3 victory from 3-1 down.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Divock Origi had Liverpool ahead at the break and the points still seemed to be heading back to Anfield when Emre Can’s strike restored their twogoal advantage following Callum Wilson’s penalty.

But Fraser, who had come off the bench to win the spot-kick, then buried his maiden Premier League goal before crossing for Simon Cook to superbly equalise, with Ake bundling home a last-gasp winner as Loris Karius failed to hold another Cook effort.

Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini conceded a costly penalty against his former club as Leighton Baines rescued a late point for Everton in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

Fellaini was introduced as an 85thminute substitute but his first meaningful action was to commit a clumsy foul on Idrissa Gueye in the area, and Baines made no mistake from 12 yards.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s sixth goal in five games had put United on course for just a third Premier League win in 11 matches.

The 35-year-old Swede struck with a first-half lob that hit the bar and post before finally crossing the line.

Chelsea staged a second-half fightback to claim a stunning 3-1 win over title rivals Manchester City that ended with a bench-clearing melee and two red cards.

Sergio Aguero was sent off in injury time for a nasty challenge on David Luiz and Fernandinho also saw red in the scuffle that followed as City fell four points behind the Premier League leaders.

The hosts dominated the first hour, but had only a Gary Cahill own goal to show for it before Diego Costa and Willian transformed the game, with Eden Hazard wrapping up an eighth successive win late on.

Arsenal moved into second place, one point behind, after Alexis Sanchez’s 14-minute second-half hat-trick helped them to a 5-1 win at West Ham, who are now just two points above the relegation zone.

At the other end of the table Crystal Palace eased their worries as a 3-0 victory at home to Southampton ended a six-match losing streak.

Sunderland registered only their third win of the season to move off the bottom of the table after a 2-1 victory at home to Leicester.

Swansea replaced the Black Cats at the foot of the Premier League after a 5-0 humbling at Tottenham.

West Brom moved ahead of sixthplaced Manchester United by virtue of having scored more goals after a 3-1 win at home to Watford.

Jonny Evans powered home a header from a corner by Chris Brunt, whose low free-kick took a deflection off Juan Zuniga to give the Baggies a comfortable half-time lead.

Christian Kabasele pulled one back on the hour from a corner, but Roberto Pereyra’s red card for violent conduct ended their challenge, with Matt Phillips extending the hosts’ lead in added time.

Burnley slipped to their third successive defeat as Stoke cruised to a 2-0 win at home.
