Dave gives school awards night the comedy touch

A MIRFIELD dentist is hoping to extend his surgery.

Dr Hridesh Gupta, of the Dental Care Centre on Taylor Hall Lane, has applied to Kirklees Council for planning permission for an extension to create two additional surgery rooms and a corridor.

The single-storey extension would have a flat roof and be about the size of a double domestic garage at 141.6m², the planning documents have revealed.

A light industrial unit currently over part of the existing Tarmac car parking area would be connected to the surgery by the new extension building.

The new space would result in one additional full-time worker and an additional part-time worker being taken on at the surgery.

Planners investigated the risk from redundant coal mines deep under the surgery building.

But a report provided by Simon Hough MRICS, suggested there should not be a problem.

The Coal Mining Risk Assessment by Mr Hough said there was underground coal mining at shallow depths of 210 metres.

But there was no record of any fault or other line of weakness at the surface as having affected nearby properties.

Neither had there been any open cast mining within 200m of the site.

Mr Hough said: “There is a limited possibility of coal or coal mine working affecting the site.

“It is unlikely any coal mine workings and or coal will be encountered/disturbed.

“However, like always, there is a slight possibility very shallow/ surface foraged unrecorded coal workings could be present.’’ Pictured at Rastrick High School and Sixth Form College prize presentation evening, are: Ethan Senior, Tom Bennett, Amy Plowman, Dave Smith, Lucy Wood, Duncan Brundell, Erin Simpson, Jack Humpleby and Steve Evans
