No worries over interest in van La Parra

-

HUDDERSFIELD Town remain relaxed in the wake of reported interest in wideman Rajiv van La Parra.

The former Wolves player is just six months into the three-year deal he signed in the summer.

And Town, who paid £750,000 for the ex-Holland Under 21 international, have the option of adding a further 12 months.

The 25-year-old missed Monday’s 1-0 Championship win at Wigan Athletic because of a knee injury.

However, he had been in impressive form over the festive period and is believed to have attracted interest from Premier League outfits Middlesbrough and Burnley.

Originally signed on loan from Molineux before the move was made permanent, he has made 22 appearances this season and 30 in total.

Van La Parra came through the youth system at Feyenoord and has also played for Dutch club Heerenveen.

Sources also suggest supposed Town interest in Burton Albion midfielder Jackson Irvine is wide of the mark.

The 23-year-old is an Australian international teammate of Town’s on-loan Manchester City midfielder Aaron Mooy.

Irvine was a close-season signing from Ross County. ■■Town’s third round FA Cup opponents Port Vale could target two new strikers this month after top scorer Alex Jones appeared to signal the end of his time at Vale Park.

Vale’s caretaker manager Michael Brown said Jones had returned to Birmingham City, but he was planning to speak to the player and the Championship club.

Brown said Vale are working hard to bring in new signings as they also prepare for Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Huddersfield.

Brown said explained: “We are working every day, we are just trying to get some over the line and we want to try to get the right ones.

“We have the cup game at the weekend so that is something to look forward to, but we are not in a rush.” ■■Former Town boss Stan Ternent has been sacked at Premier League outfit Hull City.

Tigers coaches Neil McDonald and Bobby Mimms, plus chief scout Ternent have left the club.

Hull sacked head coach Mike Phelan on Tuesday night and all three members of his backroom staff have followed him out of the KC Stadium. ■■Leeds owner Massimo Cellino has sold a 50 per cent stake in the Sky Bet Championship club to Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani.

Sports media tycoon Radrizzani, 42, who entered into talks with Cellino in the summer, has acquired 50 per cent of the club’s share capital through his company Aser Group Holding.
