Huddersfield No3 came close to picking up a point against York No4, but after leading the match 4-3 they lost the final three sets to end up losing 6-4.
Clive Standen, Barry Drain and Mike Belk each won a set with Standen and Belk winning the doubles.
In Division Two, Huddersfield No2 lost their penultimate match of the season 7-3 to Keighley No2, where Geoff Dunne, Keith Skarz and Ian Tweedale each won a set.
A number of Huddersfield League players took part in the Halifax Closed Championships.
Wilshaw’s Russell Senior won the Veterans Singles title, after beating Ian Tweedale in the semis.
Geoff Dunne also lost his semifinal match. Dunne gained some consolation by beating Cameron Sandhu in the Division One Banded Singles.
Jonathan Heslop suffered a narrow defeat in the Men’s Singles final losing 3-2.
He will be hoping for better rewards in the Huddersfield Closed Championships, which will also be held at the Halifax Table Tennis Centre venue at Club Lane on Sunday April 2.
