“It was definitely good to get those early wins against Widnes and Wakefield.

“There was nothing pretty about them, they were wins in which we toughed it out and worked hard for each other, which is so often the key to success.

“Obviously, the losses against Salford and Hull were disappointing.

“It goes without saying that the margin of defeat against Hull was tough to take, not least the manner of it because we gifted them so many points.

“But overall we know we can get a lot better, particularly when we get some of our injured players back. “We’ve obviously had a fair few injuries in these games, which isn’t ideal, but it’s given others a chance to get some good minutes under their belts. “It’s also given some of the younger lads some valuable experience playing in the first team, which will do them the world of good. I thought the young lads were great against Hull, and I was delighted to see Darnell McIntosh (inset) impressing on his Super League debut. “To come in and play against such a good team like Hull with a few last-minute changes isn’t easy, and they all can be proud of their efforts. We’ve got some really talented kids coming through at the club right now.”

And Cudjoe knows how much the players are looking forward to righting some wrongs at Leigh on Friday.

“We are looking forward to getting things back on track week against Leigh, even though we appreciate it’s going to be another tough game,” he added.

“They’ve been playing well, and we know from last year (when the Giants were beaten by the Centurions in the Middle 8s) it’s a difficult place to go.

“But we’re looking forward to putting in a big performance this week. Whenever you lose by such a big score you’re always determined to get back out there and put in a good performance, and we’ll be looking to do that on Friday.”
