Careers and Gap Fair at college
STUDENTS were given a valuable insight into the career options available to them.
More than 45 employers were represented at the Careers and Gap Fair held at Greenhead College.
The event, now in its sixth year, was set up by the college’s careers department.
Students receive the opportunity to gain an insight into the variety of options at hand after studying A-levels.
Rowena Burton, head of careers and leading promoter of the event, said: “As a college we appreciate that university isn’t for everyone and that there are some fantastic opportunities out there.
“We want to help our students get a full picture of what their options are.”
More than 500 students took the chance to speak to representatives for companies and schemes including Marks and Spencer, Reliance Precision Ltd, Chadwick Lawrence, the Royal Navy and the National Business College.
First-year student Elliott Wood said: “It was good to see the college encouraging lots of post 18 options.”
He added that he was pleased to see alternatives to university represented.
