It certainly makes a very promising start to a year that Morris will hope see her build on last year’s achievemen­ts when she earned her internatio­nal call up due to her Order of Merit record.

Morris warmed up for the Formby event with appearance­s earlier in the year in the Spanish and Portuguese Opens.

At the Portuguese Internatio­nal Ladies Amateur Open on the Montado course the outcome was a top 40 finish.

Morris finished 15 over for the championsh­ip after shooting rounds of 74, 74, 77 and 78.

At the Copa La Reina in Jerez, Morris made a steady start finishing nine over in the Spanish event after an opening round of 83 was followed by far more satisfying second round of 70 – two under for the course.

A field of 154 ladies played an 18 hole Greensome Stableford in the Huddersfie­ld, Halifax & District Ladies Winter Alliance at Woodsome Hall GC.

Playing conditions were good and the weather was mild with a few scattered showers in the morning.

This was the final meeting of the Huddersfie­ld, Halifax and District Ladies Winter Alliance for 2016/17 where the golfers have played in four out of five competitio­ns which have gone ahead this season.

The first meeting of the 2017/18 season will be held at Crosland Heath GC on Wednesday, October 25, which will be followed by the AGM.
