“I had a long time off but it’s all coming back together now,” Nurse told MTK Global.

“The original intention was to fight Joe Hughes and then maybe have an internatio­nal on this bill, however I didn’t feel right in the Joe Hughes fight with a few things, so we decided to play it safe with an eightround­er.

“I wanted to get back out again because I’d previously been out for so long, 10 months or something. Nobody wants to be out that long, so it was just nice to get back out.”

So what’s next after 20 competitiv­e rounds in the last month – Catterall?

“I don’t think it’s feasable (to fight Catterall) in July but I would imagine after the summer sometime,” he said.

“It would be nice to have such a fight that I’m excited about – the potential of who the opponent is – because it’s been a while, probably Chris Jenkins the last time I felt like that.

“Jack is a great fighter, a southpaw. I have just fought a southpaw, but it would be good to get a good camp under our belt with sparring against southpaws.

“Then I can fight Jack Catterall and see who goes on from there.”

The last of Catterall’s 18 straight wins was against Martin Gethin for the WBO Inter-continenta­l title last month at Manchester Arena, when the man from Chorley won on a technical knockout.
