Jail term increased for predatory sex beasts

Bristow had groomed one of his schoolgirl victims with cigarettes and cash – raping her while his older pal, Peters, took degrading snaps.

Andy Hallas, 57, of Netherton, was diagnosed with colon cancer two years ago.

He had surgery but the disease spread to his liver and is now inoperable.

Andy spent a great deal of time in the oncology unit at Huddersfie­ld Royal Infirmary having chemothera­py treatment and wanted to raise money to give something back.

Well-known in local league football and cricket circles, Andy lost his wife Joanne to cervical cancer at the age of just 36.

At the time he raised £7,500 for the hospital and decided to organise another fundraiser. depths of depravity’.’

Their cases reached the Appeal Court as the Attorney General, Jeremy Wright QC, attacked their sentences as nowhere near tough enough.

In June his Big Chap’s Charity Bash held at The Huntsman in Holmfirth raised £8,129.

More than 200 friends, family and supporters attended, raising money through ticket sales and a prize auction.

Andy’s wife Tracey and daughters Bethany and Kayleigh organised the event and Andy said: “It was a way to give them something else to focus on rather than dad’s illness.”

Andy said he wanted the cash used to directly benefit patients being treated at the Infirmary.

“There is only one TV on the unit and I know what it’s like having chemothera­py and just staring into space,” he said.

“Maybe there could be another TV or some iPads.” were “unduly lenient”.

Bristow’s sentence was upped to 10 years and Peters’ was increased to eight years.

Peters’ new sentence now also includes a three-year extended licence period.

He had lived in the shadows as a paedophile since the 1970s and Lord Justice Simon said: “We consider he is a dangerous offender.”

He added: “It is clear that he is a predatory paedophile and poses a significan­t risk of future serious harm to the public.”

Another troubling feature was the way both deviants had “acted together”, the judge said.
