Wembley won’t be a distraction insists Wane

-

WIGAN head coach Shaun Wane insists his team will not be slackening off before Wembley.

Wane was thrilled with his side’s 27-14 victory over Salford that earned them a return trip to Wembley but says they will need to improve when they play Hull in the final.

However, his sights are now firmly set on looking to break into Super League’s top four as the Super 8s get under way this weekend.

“We’ve got Leeds in a massive game on Friday so there will be no sleep tonight for the coaching staff,” Wane said.

“We have to go there and get two points.

“We have got ourselves in position where we have to win these games

“And we want to go to Wembley with some momentum.” ■■Salford Red Devils forward Lama Tasi faces a two-match ban after he was charged with striking with the shoulder in his side’s 27-14 Challenge Cup semi-final defeat by Wigan.

The Rugby Football League’s match review panel viewed the tackle on Wigan prop Taulima Tautai as a grade B offence and Tasi must face a disciplinary hearing in Leeds tonight.

The recommended maximum punishment is a two-game suspension, which would rule Tasi out of Friday’s trip to Hull FC and the home game against Castleford seven days later.

Wigan’s victory, which booked a Wembley date with the Sirlie Birds, could come at a cost after hooker Sam Powell was charged with grade B dangerous contact on Tasi in a separate incident.

Powell has the option of submitting an early guilty plea and accepting a one-match ban that would see him miss Friday’s Super 8s meeting with Leeds at Headingley.

Warriors teammate Frank-Paul Nu’uausala received a caution for raising a knee in the tackle.

There were no charges from Hull’s 43-24 win over Leeds on Saturday.
