the Coronation Cup to Fallas and handed out prize money and medals.

Liberal League secretary Geoff Martin thanked all the officials and helpers from Golcar Lib for their efforts.

All the well-backed, fancied players progressed to the quarterfinals, but the match of the first round featured county player Dave Fox losing to current Huddersfield Merit champion Mark Atkinson, 21-16.

Fallas had a good game with Robert Taylor, beating him 21-14, while Atkinson had a real tussle with last year’s Lib Merit winner, Danny Bousfield, winning 21-16 – Finalists at the Golcar Liberal Club-sponsored Liberal League Merit Final are joined by Association President Derek Beeby (front left) and Secretary Geoff Martin . Almondbury Lib player Courtney Allert had two good wins to get to his semi-final, but opponent Heaume kept getting the decisive bowl to run out to 16.

Fallas played as near as anyone had in the other semi and brushed Atkinson aside, 21-11.

A minute’s silence was held in respectful memory of Past President, Bernard Jones, before the event.
