See more of his work at haak.uk.com THE Huddersfield Line has always been the poor relation in the Metro area. In the days of British Rail if short of stock on the Harrogate/ Ilkley Line they used to poach the Marsden turnback train.

With great fanfare disabled access was made available at Marsden and Mirfield, but only one way! What a waste of money.

They should introduce the turnback service at Marsden/ Leeds.

At Mirfield, build new platform on the downside to Wakefield/Leeds with disabled access and more car parking. Close No 2 Platforms at both stations.

Metro and WYPTE seem to have loads of money for other projects over the system. For example, the improvements at Ravensthorpe station and Hebden Bridge. What have they got against Marsden and Mirfield?

Network Rail, we do not need 5/6 trains an hour through Huddersfield, just 2 trains of 6 coaches every half hour semifast and one stopper. Result, less congestion at Leeds and Piccadilly, especially if there is a hold up or breakdown.

Kirklees, Network Rail, Metro, WYPTE, MPs and local councillors must pull together to tell Northern/Arriva/DB trains to get their act together to provide the train service to match the rest of the system.

Over the past years Transpennine has shown contempt for local passengers arriving at Huddersfield without tickets Also a better connecting service for all local trains, as these feed the main lines. They must be told to get their house in order! IN response to single parent.

You talk as though your children are getting two more days holiday than children in other schools. I can assure you this is not the case.

I can also assure you that other schools were not all open on those two days. I personally know that some were open on the Monday, some were open on the Monday and Tuesday and some were open neither day.

Every child has the same number of days of education. The slight difference in the holiday dates arises because all schools have teacher training days and the school can choose when to have some if not all of these. They are usually tagged on to the beginning or end of a holiday.

So if you had made enquiries you would have found out that your two children would have been in school on two days when some other children were on holiday. You would have received a list of dates of all the school terms and holidays.

By the way if I were you I would look for a cheaper child minder. THE Let’s Save HRI Meltham Funday took place on Sunday July 23rd and it raised £677.08 towards the potential legal challenge.

We would like to thank all the local businesses for providing supplies along with raffle or tombola prizes.

Entertainment was provided by one of our “Yorkshire’s Got Talent” finalists, Jade Maguire and the A2D Cheerleaders; Jessica did face painting and the Logos Ice Cream Van was parked outside.

We would also like to thank Johnny and the Meltham Sports and Community Centre for providing such a great venue.

Delia, Grace and myself, as the event organisers, want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make the event such a great success.
