-

Former Huddersfield Town junior Harry Clibbens scored an unbeaten 107 as Cawthorne totalled 252-9.

Then Gareth Kilburn swept through the home ranks taking five for 15 in seven overs as Clayton were vanquished for 87.

It’s even closer in the Jedi Sports Championship Two, where only 11 points separate the top five.

Rastrick took advantage of the fact Edgerton & Dalton first team were rained off at Holmbridge by taking six points at home to Holmfirth and going a point clear at the summit.

Opener Robert Hions set up Rastrick’s total of 160-9 in 38 overs at Round Hill, Simon Farlow hitting 20 and Shakir Mohammed clubbing 30 valuable runs at No9.

Glyn Brown with three for 36 and Ben Roberts with three for 42 were the best of the Holmfirth bowlers.

When it came to batting, however, only opener Sam Butterworth showed any resistance with 36 and, despite a battling 20 not out from Brown at No9, they were dismissed for just 79.

Opener Sunil Singh took two for seven in five overs, while partner Farlow had two for 23 in eight.

Mark Knight then chipped in with two for eight in seven overs and Dan Thaxter had two for 26.

Rastrick entertain Edgerton & Dalton a week on Saturday – a match which could well decide who takes the title.

The cricket gets under way at 10.30am, when a Holmfirth CC Select XI take on Invited Guests.

Then from 2pm, a Holmfirth CC Select XI face a New Zealand XI, featuring lots of the overseas stars from the Drakes Huddersfield League.

All this for only £5 entry (Under 16s are free) and funds raised will go towards a defibrillator for the club.
