‘Cut Thandis some slack over plans for Castle Hill’

In reply to Mr David Gill’s letter (Examiner, Oct 12) as one of his ‘people’s representatives’ as he puts it, I hold a complete opposite view which would provide the ‘hill’ with a similar presence as it has had for many years in the past.

A place of interest, refuge and dumping bags of litter he had collected up there on Huddersfield Town Hall steps.

A large section of the old stone flags around the castle have been stolen and I’m sure the presence of another building whether it be a visitor centre or hostelry with modern security would reduce the misuse this site is currently being subject to.

Cut these guys some slack and give them a chance of putting their plans forward as your talk of holding a referendum sounds far too political to me.

I would like to lay the gauntlet down to Huddersfield MP Mr Sheerman – what, apart from talk, has he done?

He told us in a blaze of publicity he “was going to get something done about the George Hotel.”

Again, what has he done?
