Company making town more secure

-

had stepped out of the security and FM sector to work for a firm involved in office design and fit-out.

But he found himself back in the old routine after a number of former customers asked him for help. “One of them said he wanted someone to carry out mobile patrols – in Yeovil. I phoned a contractor I knew down there and luckily his site was across the road from the premises that needed patrolling!”

He said: “The business sat alongside my ‘day job’ to begin with, but it is now a full-time role. Gary, who I first met 13 years ago, joined me earlier this month, having worked for the same security services company as me. His experience will certainly help us.”

Gary, 47, a former Salendine Nook High School student, is now commercial director at the firm.

Tony, 36, who attended All Saints’ High School at Bradley and Greenhead College before graduating in law from the University of Huddersfield, said The fm Company was “very proudly” based in Huddersfield.

The company has contracts in towns and cities including Liverpool, Manchester, Hull, Northampton and London, as well as in Wales and Scotland, but Tony said: “We use Huddersfield-based contractors wherever possible.

“The idea is to put money back into the micro economy in Kirklees.”

The company also outsources areas including marketing, HR and health and safety to Huddersfield-based firms.
