Appy days are here again...

-

ONCE Christmas is over, you know what comes next? That’s right, New Year. And you know what that means? Resolutions. Don’t bother leaving the house to join that yoga class you always meant to get to – bring the Yoga Studio to you.

This is a sensational app with lots of pre-made sessions built-in, and the ability to create your own. Curiously, the app has a different pricing strategy on different platforms – you pay £17.99 up front on Android, but subscribe on iOS (one month £1.79, three months £4.49, one year £18.49).

You get a seven-day free trial on iOS, so you really have no excuses (there’s an Apple TV app, too, for some big screen downward dog…) EDITING video can be time-consuming and the results less than spectacular – Filmr aims to take the hassle out of the process and simplify things to the point where you can’t get it wrong, including offering access to a whole load of music to use in your videos.

Useful features include export to all the major social networks, and a handy option to cut your film up into 15 second chunks for Instagram stories.

It can also edit video in portrait mode as well as landscape, along ALONG with getting more healthy in the body, you’ll likely have ambitions to take a bit more care with your mind. Mindfulness apps were one of the big success stories of app stores in 2017 – Calm was one of the best. ONE way to keep your resolutions is sticking at them until they become a habit – that’s where Streaks can help. You can set up to 12 things you want to do every day, and simply mark them as done when you complete them.

Streaks keeps a record, and the goal is to get a streak of consecutive days going – the longer you keep the streak going, the less likely you are to break it. It ties in with Apple’s Activity app, so some tasks (like walking a set number of steps) can be completed automatically, and it also allows you to set things you don’t want to do (like smoking and looking at Facebook).
