ties. And none of those victories was more impressive than Friday’s 32-18 victory over thirdplaced Castleford Tigers which saw Giants cement their place in the top half of the league with game to spare.

Woolford said: “Since he came back into the side since his suspension we have been a different team.

“Broughy brings 300-odd games of experience and you just can’t buy that.

“His kicking game is really important to us and he came up with some nice ones in the second half against Tigers.

“Oli did a great job for the three weeks that he was in but, like I said, you can not buy experience and Broughy’s experience, that is for sure.”

And Woolford also heaped praise on Lee Gaskell, saying he had been one of the best players since the Australian coach took over the reigns.

“From the time I’ve been here he has been one of our most consistent players”, he said.

“We had him in the centres for a couple of weeks but we made a switch with him and Jordan Turner and it has worked really well for us.

“Gasky has thrived being back in the halfs. He is a real threat, his kicking game has been great and his defensive game has improved.

“Full credit to him because he has worked really hard like the rest of the team and he has now got some belief and confidence and we are seeing the results of that.”

He said Leroy Cudjoe - who like Gaskell scored a try against Castleford on Friday - is another who is growing in confidence after a long injury lay-off.

“Last week he turned the corner in his performance he backed that up against Castleford.”
