Thieves smashed glass to raid home

THIEVES escaped with three television­s after smashing their way into a Holme Valley house.

West Yorkshire Police said the home on Oakes Avenue at Brockholes was ransacked after thieves got in by smashing a living room window.

The break-in happened at 5.30pm on October 31.

Police said two TVs were taken from a living room wall and one from an upstairs bedroom.

Around 30 crimes were reported to West Yorkshire Police in recent days.

Here’s a round-up of the incidents from across the Huddersfie­ld area:

Linthwaite and Outlane: November 2 at 1.30pm: Thieves forced locks on two sheds in New Hey Road at Outlane and stole a Karcher washer, hand tools and some engine oil.

November 3 at 12.40am: An offender trying car door handles on Gillroyd Lane, Linthwaite, found a BMW 116 unlocked and searched the vehicle, although nothing was stolen.

The following crimes were reported but the victims asked for some details not to be made public:

Lead and other metals were stolen by a thief who climbed on to the roof of an empty mill.

A dash-cam, fuel card and a DAB radio were stolen from a Citroen Berlingo panel van.

Tools were stolen from a Peugeot Expert van parked on a street.

Golcar and Paddock: November 1 at midnight: A thief entered a house on Longwood Road at Paddock and stole a mountain bike.

November 2 at 8pm: A Euro profile lock was snapped by a thief at a business on Market Street. They then stole and takings and a bucket.

The following crimes were reported but the victims asked for some details not to be made public:

A TV was stolen from a house by a thief who used bodily force on a back door.

A thief damaged a house door lock and stole a bench band saw, cordless drill and other tools.

Machine tools were stolen from a business by a thief who covered a CCTV camera and then broke into a garage.

Commercial power tools were stolen from a Citroen Berlingo by a thief who smashed a side window.

An attempt was made to break into a working men’s club but without success. public:

A radio and a Stihl saw were stolen from a Ford Transit van parked in a yard.

A thief stole lead from a church roof, causing damage to the building.

A VW Transporte­r was broken into but nothing was taken.

Thongsbrid­ge: October 31 at 6pm, a business premises on Luke Lane, was broken into by thieves who cut the padlock off the door. Tools and survey equipment were taken. Tools were also taken from a nearby premises.

The following crimes were reported but the victims asked for some details not to be made public:

Thieves broke into a house and stole computers, jewellery, keys and a fob which was used to access a garage where they were disturbed by the victim and made off.

Suspects in a Transit-style van were seen stealing metal and building materials from a garden.

Kirkburton, Denby Dale and Emley: November 4 at 8.41pm: Thieves broke into a house on The Crofts at Emley and made an untidy search of the main bedroom. It is not known if anything was stolen.

A Renault Master van parked on a drive was broken into and property stolen.

Two off-road motorbikes, sporting equipment and two bags of hand tools were taken from a garage.

Cash and Euro notes were stolen from a bedroom by thieves who broke into a house by forcing a window.

Two industrial steam cleaners were stolen from a milking parlour.

A Claud Butler mountain bike was stolen from an insecure farmhouse.

A jar containing pound coins was stolen from a house after a screwdrive­r was used to force open a rear patio door.

A jack was used to remove two wheels from a Citroen Belingo. A bicycle was stolen after a lock was cut off. Thieves stole a trailer parked in a yard.
