Restaurants up for sale
Beautiful surroundings and extremely friendly staff. Keep up the good work.”
Siam Square replaced the Chinese restaurant, Canton Chef, which was established in 2015.
Mike Holroyd, an accountant, declined to discuss the sale of the intimate, 24-seater Lost Property restaurant which he runs with his wife Elena and the help of part-time staff.
Its quirky name derives from when the building was the transport hub of Huddersfield Corporation - an honour it held for 90 years until 1977 when Huddersfield became part of Kirklees.
Mike explained to an intrigued customer that: “Our little space was the lost property office.”
It claims to be unique in that it is the only licensed ‘Georgian’ restaurant in the country, outside of London.
The superb Black Sea cuisine which has won many admirers derives from Elena’s East European background and particularly from her early life as a child, eating meals prepared by her grandma and greataunts.

It has been a tough time in Huddersfield town centre for traders of late with the nearby Thai restaurant Little Chilli in Viaduct Street closing down due to, still as yet unexplained circumstances.
Paul Wood of The Keys restaurant in the crypt of St Peter’s Church said it had been a difficult year and the situation had not been helped by the continued off-putting presence of so many homeless people on the town centre’s streets including one young man making a ‘home’ under the town’s railway arch.
That area of town has not been helped by the continued closure of the once illustrious George Hotel, situated just yards away in St George’s Square, the relocation of Cleopatra’s Lounge on Northumberland Street to Kirkgate and the news earlier this year that the Post Office was leaving its Northumberland Street premises for more modest accommodation in New Street.
