Upon his arrest Edmund claimed to police that he was forced to commit the offences, magistrates were told.
He had 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Mr Bozman asked magistrates to determine that their sentencing powers were insufficient.
He told them: “It was prolonged bad driving in the course of a police pursuit on a number of roads at speed, at the end of which he tried to get put of the car while he was still driving.”
Magistrates agreed and sent Edmund, of Cowcliffe Hill Road in Fixby, to Leeds Crown Court for sentencing.
This will take place on January 4 and he was banned from driving in the interim.
