Grooming victim left ’without any support’
being jailed this year for raping and abusing girls between 2004 and 2011.
Referred to as ‘Girl A,’ she was raped countless times by the grooming gang’s ringleader Amere Singh Dhaliwal who was found guilty of 54 offences against 11 girls and must serve at least 17 years and 312 days in prison.
Girl A’s mum says the court case had brought to the surface traumatic experiences which her daughter was finding it difficult to cope with.
She says it is “disgraceful” that support hadn’t been provided.
“When the victims originally made their statements the police told them there would be counselling put in place.
“She received some counselling while making statements but now the trials have finished there has been no support whatsoever for any of the victims.”
Kirklees Council said it was working to identify survivors and offer them the appropriate support.
The mum said that the victims felt that they were being “let down” and ignored for a second time.
