Tivoli at the double after just one year

Jo is part of Global Travel Group and at its recent conference in Orlando, Florida, Jo won its High Flier Award.

Tivoli Travel specialises in weddings, golf breaks and family holidays and business is booming.

“We’re going from strength to strength and I identified Lindley and Holmfirth as places I wanted to look at next,” said Jo.

“I just happened to be driving through Lindley when I saw the ‘to let’ board. It’s a lovely village with plenty of good independent businesses – and we’re the only travel agent!”

The shop is a converted ground floor flat, opposite PAX Burger in the centre of Lindley, and Jo has tradesmen lined up for when she gets the keys and hopes to open in mid-late January.

Jo has taken on experienced independent travel agent Leanne Lloyd who will staff the new shop while Jo splits her time between Mirfield and Lindley.

It hasn’t been all plain sailing for Jo since she opened her business. In October 2017 her premises in Huddersfield Road, Mirfield, were broken into and that could have put many fledgling businesses at risk.

But the Mirfield community rallied round to support Jo and the following month she had her best ever sales.

“What happened just made me more determined to succeed,” said Jo. “We’ve done well since opening and it’s all about seizing the opportunity.”
