EW art exhibitions by four local painters will show off the landscapes of Huddersfield and the Calder Valley in stunning colour.

Tom Senior and Bob Milner, who paint together under the name Milk, Two Sugars, are presenting their vibrant depictions of Huddersfield’s surroundings at the Colne Valley Museum in Golcar.

The paintings have been collated into a calendar for The Winkle Club - an organisation that raises money for the local community and the calendars will be available to buy at the exhibition, which will be open to the public on Thursday December 13, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Tom said: “We deliberately went for a bright, expressive but realistic colour palette; no brooding Northern landscape.

“We love Huddersfield and feel passionate about the area and wanted to reflect that in the work.”

A second exhibition - this time showing off the landscape of the Calder Valley - has opened at the Harrison Lord Gallery in Brighouse.

Lucy Pittaway’s paintings reflect some of Yorkshire’s most iconic images, from a woolly sheep to the Tour de France peloton winding its way up village cobbles.

Lucy’s creations are hanging next to those of Hebden Bridge-based artist, Kate Lycett, whose colourful paintings of her surroundings are all hand finished with gold thread.
