Hero Stuart is an inspiration

-

TWO excellent events have taken place these past couple of weeks.

First we had Stuart Jones as our guest at Turnbridge WMC.

Meeting Stuart in person was nothing like the experience I had imagined it would be having seen him strut about a rugby field!

During the course of the evening it transpired Stuart had been a hero for several of the association’s members.

He spoke about his early career at Wigan where he played alongside some Rugby League greats.

He then moved to St Helens and soon arrived at the Giants where he stayed for six seasons (2003 to 2008).

His time at Huddersfield, Stuart revealed, was the most enjoyable in the whole of his playing career. Whilst he never achieved his childhood goal of playing at Wembley, he did play in a Challenge Cup final for us at Cardiff in 2006.

His one international cap was against Russia in 2004 when he scored a try in England’s 98-4 victory.

Our annual Reindeer Race Night was held at Turnbridge WMC last Friday.

As usual, was an extremely enjoyable and successful evening.

Even more so this year with 10 Giants players attending.

Photos of the event can be viewed online both at our website and Facebook pages.

Another new date for your diary is February 9 when the team will be over in France playing Catalans.

For those of you not making the trip, your committee has liaised with the Shoulder Of Mutton at Lockwood for the match to be shown live, together with an Andalusian Stew with Chorizo for supper (a vegetarian option will be available).

Hosts Eleanor and Ash have told your committee to watch out for details about what they will be doing after this season’s Academy games.

For a mere £8 why not buy one of our beanie hats as a Christmas stocking-filler? Or a HGSA wristband for £3? Details are on our website and Facebook pages.

From all on the committee, have a really good Christmas and be excited for the New Season!
