That’s the verdict of former top referee Dermot Gallagher when reviewing the incident on Sky Sports. The Huddersfield Town striker was caught by a flailing challenge from Lascelles as the ball went out of play in front of the Britannia Rescue Stand.
Compared with what Steve Mounie did to incur a straight red card and a three-match ban in the Brighton game, you could argue what Lascelles did was far more reckless, dangerous and filled with intent. However, here’s how it was viewed in Sky’s Ref Watch segment.
Incident: “Jamaal Lascelles caught Laurent Depoitre out on the wing with a late scissor challenge.
“The ball was already out of play and he received a yellow card.”
Dermot’s verdict: “Correct decision.”
“He catches him high and off the field which is not a good thing.
“It looks worse because of the hoardings.”
As our picture shows, Lascelles is off the floor with both legs and definitely has his studs showing.
