WHO says you don’t see bobbies on the beat anymore?

These officers were on patrol in Slaithwaite on Thursday night when they stopped to help out an elderly resident.

The man had popped out to post a Christmas card, but was struggling on his feet a little.

Members of West Yorkshire Police’s Kirklees Rural policing team tweeted: “Saw this chap struggling with walking in Slaithwaite after posting a Xmas card. Your NPT (Neighbourhood Policing Team) assisted and made sure he got home safe and sound.”

Officers also used the hashtag #notjustcrime, with police eager to show they are assisting the community in lots of different ways.

It comes after one West Yorkshire Police officer took to Twitter after attending a scene where a three-yearold girl died.

Pc Jade Hunter, who works in the Wakefield district, hit back at people criticising officers for taking tea breaks, saying officers are “only human.”

Pc Hunter had been assisting in an incident where the little girl had gone into cardiac arrest, and tragically didn’t make it.

She said: “Jobs like this are especially difficult to deal with. I cannot imagine the pain her parents and siblings are going through now.

“Being a police office is not all about catching criminals and this is a side of the job many don’t realise we do.”
