MANCHESTER United striker Romelu Lukaku will reportedly not feature in the Red Devils’ Boxing Day clash with Huddersfield Town.

The Daily Mail claim the Belgian forward has been away from the club on compassionate leave since the start of the week and will not return until after Christmas.

The paper suggests Lukaku will return to Old Trafford on Boxing Day, but will be unavailable to new caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his first match as United boss at the Theatre of Dreams.

The 45-year-old Norwegian took charge of his former side on Thursday after Jose Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday in the wake of United’s 3-1 defeat to rivals Liverpool.

Despite not having Lukaku at his disposal, Solskjaer is expected to restore French

World Cup winner Paul Pogba to the side to face former employers Cardiff City this weekend.

The 25-year-old had been benched by Mourinho in the Portuguese’s final three Premier League clashes as Man United manager. DAVID Wagner says Town have unwavering belief in their own ability to revive the Premier League campaign.

Even though the Terriers are second bottom and looking to end a run of four successive defeats against Southampton at the John Smith’s Stadium, Wagner is adamant Town shouldn’t change their approach or philosophy.
