AFTER a mild and unseasonal Christmas the weather is going to turn chilly but will remain “boring” – according to Examiner weather expert Paul Stevens.

The final days of 2018 saw temperatures well above the average but the wind is set to come from the north bringing a wintry bite.

Temperatures over the festive period in Huddersfield were as high as 12C but 2019 will start with the thermometer dipping sharply.

Weatherman Paul said while high pressure had been in charge – allowing a little sunshine – there would be a slight shift later this week.

He said there could be early frosts where skies cleared overnight but the high pressure could ease later this week.

However he added there were “no signals for anything severe or wintry”.

On Twitter, he wrote: “As high pres- sure settles over the UK there may well be some cooling leading to some quite cold days later in the week. But apart from that a continuation of the boring weather.”

Most of today will be mild but temperatures will drop markedly falling to as low as 3C. It will be mostly cloudy with a chance of sunny intervals.

This will set the pattern for the next few days. Tomorrow will be fairly cold with highs of 5C and lows of 1C.

Thursday will be cold and cloudy with top temperatures of 5C falling to 1C

ooking further ahead, the weekend is expected to be moderately cold and cloudy followed by showers, according to the Weather Channel.
