Town spurred on in hunt for teen defender

transfer window. It’s reported the 19-year-old is in talks about a move north, after being unable to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s fist-team squad.

He was potential January move to Town by the Examiner earlier this month.

Town have already allowed Ramadan Sobhi to leave on loan until the end of the season to Al Ahly in Egypt, while Rajiv van La Parra yesterday sealed a loan switch to Championship side Middlesbrough.

Brown, who turns 20 next month, has been a regular for the club’s Under-23s in the Premier League 2, the Under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy, and Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League.

The left-back has not been able to break into the first team to make his debut for the club but was included in Tottenham’s 2017 pre-season tour to the USA, only to miss out this year.

Brown, a full-back who also has plenty of attacking ability and the ability to pop up with a goal or two, has been unable to find a way past Danny Rose and Ben Davies, as well as fellow academy product, 21-yearold Kyle Walker-Peters.

Now with just six months left on his contract at the club, Brown appears to be on his way out of north London and is in talks with David Wagner over a move to the John Smith’s Stadium now the transfer window is open. Brown has not been able to make it at Tottenham but has all the attributes to carve out a career for himself in the professional game and he will be hoping that the Terriers can offer him that opportunity.

But he is just the type of promising, adaptable player who will soon be ready for senior action.

He last played for Spurs on December 18, when the Under-21s lost 3-0 at Oxford in the Checkatrade Trophy.
