Mystery over ‘lorry hanging off the road’

MYSTERY surrounds the circumstances in which this truck found itself precariously balanced on two wheels off a bleak moorland road.

The truck, belonging to Manchester demolition company Frank O’Gara & Sons Ltd, was pictured hanging off the B6114 at Buckstones near the junction with New Hey Road.

Photographer Mark Hemingway passed the truck at 12.30pm on Thursday.

He said the lorry had to pull over because of another one coming the other way.

He said he thought the road had given way at the edge – which could have led to the rather extreme situation the driver found themselves in.

A representative from Frank O’Gara & Sons said the company was aware of the incident, but did not make any further comment on how the incident had happened or the condition of the driver.

West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were not involved in the incident.

Kirklees Council were also approached for comment but did not respond.
