Wrap up – winter’s coming...

-

THE snow and ice stayed away through December – but it looks like the mild winter is about to come to an end.

Examiner weather expert Paul Stevens is predicting ‘very cold and wintry’ weather for the town – and he says it’s going to be ‘interesting’.

He tweeted: “The monthly models are still on track for very cold conditions to develop at the end of the month with easterlies and snow.

“Increasingly colder conditions from the north west are predicted, with sleet and snow to hills at first then to lower levels as we go into the following weekend.

“Thereafter the full range of monthly outlooks are indicating much colder weather for February with the potential for easterly winds, which are never warm at this time of year.”

Forecasting the trend for the next seven to 10 days, Paul predicts ‘colder north west wind with snow to hills later next week and increasingly lower levels into the following week as winds turn more north easterly with a very cold and wintry February’.

He added: “Certainly some interesting cold weather on the way.”

Before the cold sweeps in the Met Office is predicting mild temperatures, with highs of 10°C on Sunday.
