Linthwaite claim emphatic County Trophy victory

DIVISION One leaders Linthwaite easily beat Shire Academics in the County Trophy away 6-1 with Ryan Wadsworth and Conor Woodruff scoring two each.

Honley lost 2-1 at home to Wortley.

In the league, Heywood Irish Centre drew 1-1 with Slaithwait­e while

Holmbridge drew 2-2 with Shepley with goals from Louis Langfield and Greg Moorhouse. Elliot George and Jordan Taylor scored for Shepley.

Hepworth lost 4-2 at home to Skelmantho­rpe whilst Diggle lost heavily at home, 10-1 to Berry Brow with Liam Dobson scoring three.

Scholes remain top of Division Two with a 4-1 win over Almondbury Woolpack, while Fothergill and Whittles stay second with an emphatic 5-0 victory at Marsden with a hat-trick from Thomas Lord.

AFC Lindley won 4-2 away at Holme Valley Academical­s and Netherton also won 4-1 at Lepton.

Junction remain top of Division Three despite losing 3-2 at home to Cumberwort­h who scored through Josh Gower and Aaron Moore (2). Scissett, with two goals from Chris Johnson, go second after a narrow 2-1 win away at Hade Edge. 3D Dynamos move up to third place, thrashing Golcar United 9-2, while Uppermill are fourth with a 3-2 win at AFC Dalton.

Grange Moor Saints went up to second in Division

Four beating Cartworth Moor 3-1 with goals from Dickinson, McEwen and Al Wain. Mount moved off the bottom of the division with a 3-2 home win over Brighouse Athletic with two goals from Hutchinson and one from Morris. Kirkburton thumped Flockton 6-1 with goals from Coleman, Toulcher, Willans, Sattar and two from Jackson. Conway scored for Flockton.

Second-half strikes from Bainbridge, Hill and Reaks saw Sporting CAV win 4-1 at home to Meltham.

Deighton dropped down to third, drawing 3-3 at Wooldale.

In the reserve divisions, Newsome stay top of Division One with a 5-2 win at Honley, while Heywoods beat bottom side Berry

Brow 4-1 with goals from Mellor, Raynor (two) and Ryan-Hicks.

Thomas Whitfield hit four for Shelley out of five but still ended up on the losing side as Linthwaite scored six. A Kane Bowker hat-trick saw Cumberwort­h win 5-2 at home to Diggle.

Britannia Sport A were far too strong for Wooldale, winning 14-0 to go six points clear at the top of Division

Four. A Joe Stephenson hat-trick for Hepworth put them up to second in a 5-1 win at Meltham.
