‘The only people who can change things are us’

-

DAVID Wagner says everyone at Town is aware that only they themselves can stop the club plunging back into the Championship next season.

Most have already written Town’s chances off of producing a miracle and staying up this season.

But head coach Wagner says he is determined not to let morale fall at the club - despite nine straight defeats – and that the players and coaches are the only people who can save their season.

“It’s part of my job to lift everybody and, obviously, after so many defeats it’s more difficult,” said Wagner. “But we try to build everyone’s morale and mentality to the highest level.

“It makes sense to make sure everyone gets all the information on board they need for the next game, what their strengths are and how they play. And we have to make them aware that the only people who can change things are us.

“Nobody will do it for us, nobody will do us a favour - the only ones who can change it are us.

“Everyone has to realise it’s them as individuals.

“It’s not the group or someone else, it’s me.

“This counts for me as well, and this is why I am desperate for this game against Cardiff to come around and, hopefully, we will be successful.

“We have always fought. This is the least I expect from us as a group.

“Sometimes we have been limited in numbers with the injuries we have had, and this has meant sometimes in terms of the understanding and the harmony on the pitch that we’ve missed something - this is understandable, but we are not happy.”
