Terriers face fight to sign French goal ace Maupay
HUDDERSFIELD Town are again being linked with a summer swoop for Brentford marksman Neal Maupay.
Reports suggest the John Smith’s Stadium club are back in for the 22-year-old Frenchman, who was mentioned in dispatches throughout the January transfer window.
Aston Villa and Middlesbrough are also interested in the striker.
He is hot property but could be brought in to form a partnership with £2m signing from Charlton Athletic, Karlan Grant.
Maupay has 23 goals and seven assists in Brentford colours this season from 40 appearances.
But the Griffin Park club have slipped to 14th in the Championship standings and may be under pressure to keep hold of their star marksman.
Maupay, who made his move to the London club from French side St Etienne for a fee of £1.6m in the summer of 2017, has been a revelation in the Championship.
Reports claim that Dean
Smith is keen to reunite with the promising youngster at Villa Park, having previously worked with the Frenchman at
Brentford.
The 22-year-old has established himself as a bona-fide goalscorer in the second-tier at Brentford and a move to either of those clubs would be an ideal step in his career.
