Drink-drive charge tops magistrates’ case list
DOZENS of criminals are dealt with by magistrates at Kirklees every day.
Magistrates have the powers to jail defendants for up to six months for one offence or 12 months in total for a number of offences.
They can also hand down fines of up to £5,000.
All magistrates are unpaid volunteers and they only receive expenses for the work they do.
With more serious offences they will send a defendant to crown court for sentencing.
Here are the latest cases from the courts. with electronic monitoring imposed for eight weeks.
Anthony Blinco, 29, of Pynate Road, Batley. Failed, without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order imposed on September 28, 2018, as he did not attend his unpaid work appointments on January 23 and February 24. Offence committed while subject to a community order for the original offence of assault. Handed an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. Unpaid work requirement for 120 hours of unpaid work to be completed within the next 12 months.
Gregory Dolan, 35, of Whitehead Lane, Huddersfield. Failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order as he did not attend appointments on February 13 and March 1. Fined £80.
Adnaan Hussain, 29, of Providence Court, Thornhill Lees, Dewsbury. Failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order as he did not attend appointments on November 14, 2018, and March 1. Order made varied: New end date of December 28, 2019. Fined £80. Ordered to pay £50 costs.
Shaid Khan, 46, of North Street, Lockwood, Huddersfield. Failed, without reasonable excuse, to comply with the requirements of a community order as he failed to attend appointments on February 14 and February 22. Fined £120. Dewsbury. Driving without insurance on namely Paley Road, Bradford on February 26, 2018. Fined £343, ordered to pay a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. Driving licence endorsed with six points.
Viktor Bogolanovic, 46, Clough Road, Birkby. Acted in contravention of a provision of an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act by parking in a disabled persons space while displaying a blue badge on Princess Street, Huddersfield on October 10, 2018. Fined £100, ordered to pay a £30 surcharge and £100 costs.
Dean Steven Gledhill, 39, Bankfield Road. Failed to comply with the requirements of a community order in that failed to commit to rehabilitation activity requirement sessions due to obstructive behaviour on October 1 and November 1 2018. Dealt with for original offence of breaching a molestation order. Community order revoked, handed an eight-week jail sentence suspended for 12 months, unpaid work requirement to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and ordered to pay £100 costs.
Rebecca Sohotha, 48, Longlands Road, Slaithwaite. Acted in contravention of a provision of an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act by parking in a disabled persons space while displaying a blue badge on Acre Street, Lindley, on November 21, 2018. Fined £66, ordered to pay a £30 surcharge and £150 costs.
