THE annual Village Cup bowling competition was played for on Saturday between members of Lindley Liberal club and Lindley Bowling club. The hosts this year were the Daisy Lea Lane club.

For the third year running the winner came from the Liberal Club when A Forrest beat George Turton of the host club 21-8 in the final.

In the semi-final Forrest beat Lewis Turton 21-7 while George Turton accounted for Nathan Hartley 21-6. In the subsidiary competition, Carl Allan of the Bowling Club beat Pete Thornton from the Liberal Club 15-14 in the final.

In the Ladies competition Janet Hayden had a win over Liberal Club’s Kath McKenzie. CRAIG Gant won the Champion of Champions title at The Griffin with victory over Liam Fallas in the final.

On a green which was maybe as fast as it’s ever been, a lot of players chose to use small bowlers than normal.

However, Fallas went against the trend and used his 2.11 bowls to punch his way into the final, playing superb all day.

Gant, however, had found a good length and, in what was a great final, came from 15-10 down to claim a 21-15 win.

Fallas still won the high break prize with a 17 in his round one win over.
