Siewert to check out injury fears ahead of Anfield trip

HUDDERSFIELD Town are monitoring a number of players trying to prove their fitness for the trip to Liverpool tomorrow.

Head coach Jan Siewert made five changes to his starting line-up against Watford last weekend, bringing back Jonas Lossl for the injured Ben Hamer alongside Tommy

Smith, Aaron Mooy, Isaac Mbenza and Steve Mounie.

Karlan Grant, who had been ill in the build-up, played as a substitute and scored a late consolation goal in the 2-1 defeat.

Grant wasn’t able to train much last week due to breathing problems, but Town hope he will be fully fit for the trip to Anfield.

Isaac Mbenza is being checked, even though he played 81 minutes against Watford.

He had played only 45 minutes in the previous two-and-a-half months after suffering a calf injury in the defeat at Chelsea.

Laurent Depoitre is training after recovering from a foot injury, but it’s felt he could need a practicematch run-out before being considered for the first team.

Midfielder Philip Billing (right) is okay and training with the first team, so he is available for selection despite being left out of the squad for the

Watford game.

Winger Adama Diakhaby has been back on the grass at PPG Canalside but is still working to fully overcome a hamstring injury.

German midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri is not expected to play for Town again this season as he builds up his fitness after a broken collar bone, which needed surgery, but he has played as a sub for the Germany Under 21 side.

Demeaco Duhaney and

Aaron Rowe are both in training after injuries. They both played for the Under-19s in Poland last week.
