Hudson must ring changes for Reading

-

within two minutes of earning a point.

That’s looking beyond matching up the 3-5-2 make-up which Reading will come with, and gives him a shape which he feels best suits the Town squad.

It still leaves room for changes, though, and I have come up with three which may help to improve Town’s chances.

Firstly, at the back, I would go for Juninho Bacuna at right-back instead of Flo Hadergjonaj - and let the Dutchman concentrate on helping shore things up.

Reading attack with quick wing-backs in Andy Yiadom and Omar Richards so Terence Kongolo on the left and whoever plays on the right - it could be Herbert Bockhorn or Hadergjonaj, of course - are going to have to deal with that. One change for me would be Bacuna getting the right-back slot.

Alex Pritchard is a shoo-in at No10, but I would also change the two men either side of him.

Both Rajiv van La Parra and Isaac Mbenza drifted out of the game at Cardiff and were eventually substituted by Hudson.

My starting widemen would be Josh Koroma and Adama Diakhaby.

The latter produced a fine run and shot in his first involvement in the game down at Cardiff, and I would throw him in with instructions to use his pace at every opportunity.

A selection like Koroma would be with a view to giving the new signing another chance to impress in front of the home fans and give Reading more pace to worry about.

I’m not saying Mbenza and Van La Parra don’t have pace, but it’s about trying to hit the right combination around striker Karlan Grant. So my selection would be: Kamil Grabara; Juninho Bacuna, Christopher Schindler, Tommy Elphick, Terence Kongolo; Jonathan Hogg, Trevoh Chalobah; Alex Pritchard, Adama Diakhaby, Josh Koroma; Karlan Grant.
