Find your voice at uni contest
DON’T expect Sir Tom Jones or Will.i.am but Huddersfield will be finding its voice this autumn.
Huddersfield’s own version of TV’s The Voice – aptly named The Huddersfield Voice – comes to Huddersfield Town Hall on October 25.
Organiser Alan Tobi, international student experience manager at the University of Huddersfield, is looking to bring one of the university’s biggest campus events to the general public.
And it promises to be a good night out for anyone who enjoys singing shows.
The Huddersfield Voice, like the TV show, allows the public and students from the UK and around the world to showcase their vocal talents on the big stage in front of a panel of judges and an audience.
It’s proving popular already and Alan said: “We have so many people wanting to sing that we may have to look at repeating the event next year.
“It is very exciting to have such a dynamic mix of nationalities on the bill from the UK, Italy, Malaysia, Poland, China and Lithuania.
“The university recognises its impact on the local community and remains committed to providing opportunity and activity.”
It may lack international music stars but the judging panel features a mix of expertise and will be present to pass on constructive comments and decide who will be crowned the Huddersfield Voice 2019.
Tickets are on sale at Huddersfield Town Hall and the International Office at the university priced at £5 (general) and £2.50 for under-16s and students with student identification.
