Stage all set for Business Week launch
HUDDERSFIELD Business Week officially begins on Monday, September 30, with exciting details announced for the highly anticipated launch event.
The launch, hosted at Magic Rock Brewing in the town centre and sponsored by Ad:Venture, will see key business professionals from the town give insights into their business as well as discussing the key challenges and triumphs Huddersfield-based businesses face.
The panel will include Claire Paxman, of Paxman Coolers, Simon Bodsworth, of Daval Furniture, Ray Woolhead, of Divine Gin, and Katrina Cliffe, of KC Communications and organiser of Huddersfield Business Week. It will be chaired by Charles Brook, of Poppleton and Appleby.
Huddersfield Business Week has been extremely well received so far with over 30 events submitted by companies across the area.
Organisations including the University of Huddersfield, The Leeds Enterprise Partnership (The LEP) and Huddersfield Giants as well as many more are hosting events with the aim of putting Huddersfield in the spotlight.
The event has also attracted support from organisations such as the Media Centre, Heritage Exchange and Magic Rock Brewing with free event space available.
Laura Batchelor, client services director at KC Communications, said: “We’re thrilled to have these panellists on board for the launch event.
“As leaders of successful Huddersfield-based businesses we’re excited to hear what insight they can share with us and what they think the future of Huddersfield looks like.”
Huddersfield Business Week is presented by PR and marketing agency, KC Communications, after recognising a lack of anything similar in the area to help Huddersfield businesses showcase their fantastic achievements.
All Huddersfield Business Week events are free to list as part of the event, with advice on topics ranging from pensions, factory tours, health & wellbeing, marketing, and more on offer. IRKLEES Council’s Cabinet has approved plans to improve shop fronts and bring vacant space back into use in Dewsbury town centre.
Cabinet approved plans with a view to launching the scheme in early 2020 in the Dewsbury Town Centre Conservation Area.
The scheme will follow the success of The Dewsbury Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI); a joint funded programme which commenced in 2013 between Kirklees Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund with funding of £3.7 million.
Clr Peter McBride, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said:
“I’m really pleased that Cabinet approved revival plans for Dewsbury. We’ve seen huge success and changes for the better from the Dewsbury Townscape Initiative and I’m confident that we can continue this success.
“The current appearance of many of the shop fronts is a result of various factors including the decline in retail activity in the town centre, a legacy of poor workmanship, display of ill-considered advertisements, lack of maintenance and some unauthorised alterations.
“The combination of these factors fail to provide a good appearance for the buildings and the town centre. Given that a large part of the town centre is a conservation area then these issues become emphasised.
“The grant scheme will go a long way to improving Dewsbury town centre, making it more appealing and attractive for both local residents and visitors to the area.”
Areas of activity will cover all the Dewsbury Town Centre Conservation Area; with a specific focus on the core part of the town centre including Northgate, Westgate, and Corporation Street among others.
