Jeremy should take a long look at himself

-

What have we done Britain? Five more years of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. More false hopes and promises that will never get delivered more people being thrown into poverty and ending up homeless, the loss of poor public services and health services but saying that does any government party ever do what they promised to do when they are after your votes?Fiona

JEREMY Corbyn may blame Brexit for his party’s appalling General Election result. Instead he should look in a mirror. Had he not instructed his MPs to vote against the EU/May deal three times, Boris would never have become PM, there would not have been an election and the ‘Red Wall’ would not have turned Blue.

Mr Corbyn has said ‘a period of reflection’ is required. His honest reaction to the reflection in his mirror should be an immediate resignation for the sake of his party and an apology to those members whose constituents he betrayed. truth and avoided confrontations with press and public throughout the campaign, even to the extent of hiding in a refrigerator to avoid journalists.

True, the Labour manifesto may have seemed over-ambitious but all Johnson has promised is to put right a tiny amount of the damage his party has done to the social fabric of the country – a fact largely ignored by most national newspapers.

Sadly, many who voted Conservative will be bitterly disappointed when Brexit turns out to be less than promised and the manifesto falls by the wayside.

Why does TV news ignore Huddersfield?

ON Friday morning I switched on the BBC Breakfast at 7am for the election results.

While it seemed nearly every constituency in Great Britain was mentioned, there was no mention of the results for Huddersfield.

So I waited for Look North. Again, nothing for Huddersfield

Why is it that national and regional news (apart from the Examiner) rarely mention Huddersfield? Is it because it is in a mythical kingdom called Kirklees?

Now we have Brexit, how about Hexit – when Huddersfield leaves the bureaucratic and incompetent Kirklees?

I suggest all local politicians go into the next local elections on a promise of the breakup of Kirklees

How many of our worldrenowned manufacturers in Huddersfield put on their advertising “Made in Kirklees”.

Enjoy a brisk winter walk after Christmas

ON Saturday, December 28, why not take the train on the Penistone Line for a nine mile linear woodland walk along public footpaths starting from Meadowhall Interchange to finish at Chapeltown.

The train departs Huddersfield at 8.12am, calling at all stations to Meadowhall.

The walk is free and all are welcome.
