Keep a close eye on the Tories over Brexit deal
THE Conservatives hardly deserved to win. But Labour and the LibDems certainly deserved to lose. The two losers majored on cheating us out of Leave, and received their just desserts. The LD party, being neither liberal nor democratic, brazenly tried to overturn our legal vote for independence. Meanwhile Labour’s open contempt for us is shown by Emily Thornberry sneering that Leave voters are “stupid”, and Barry Sheerman viewing his constituents as “uneducated”.
Then we have the Conservatives, who gained a massive majority on the pretence that their new Withdrawal Agreement, negotiated by Boris Johnson (well, actually, by civil servants), is “Brexit”. It isn’t, because it was never designed to be. The Boris WA is just an alternative treaty to the existing EU treaties (TEU and TFEU). It keeps us firmly under EU control, until we Leave in a year’s time - 31 Dec 2020 - if we’re lucky.
So we will need to keep a very close watch on Boris Johnson and new local Tory MPs Jason
McCartney and Mark Eastwood. They, and we, know what we voted for - complete separation. The EU must not control our fish, money, courts, laws, borders, procurement, army, trade, or any part of the UK state. There can be no repetition of Theresa May’s betrayals. Or the Tory party will end up where Labour is.
No sadness over defeat of former MP
THELMA Walker, ex-Labour MP for Colne Valley, is feeling sad for her constituents. I would have thought the constituents of Colne Valley will be feeling very happy indeed, seeing as the majority voted for her to go.
I think she must be feeling sad that she has lost her big fat salary, food and drink subsidies, and oh! those wonderful expense allowances.
Besides her P45, she gets a nice little handout. I wonder what she will do for the next five years?
