Chairman opens fire after Hart’s U-turn
THE man Town announced last week as Julian Winter’s successor as chief executive will now not be joining the club following an extraordinary U-turn less than a week after his appointment was announced.
Town indicated that Burnley In The Community CEO, Neil Hart, had already signed his contract with the club – but has now pulled out of the deal in order to take up the equivalent position at the Clarets.
It was announced on Monday that position would become vacant as it was revealed current Burnley chief executive, David Baldwin, would be joining the EFL.
The Clarets subsequently offered their vacant CEO job to Hart and according to a statement by Town, yesterday he contacted Terriers chairman Phil Hodgkinson to inform him he would be reneging on their deal so that he could accept the Premier League side’s offer.
In that statement Hodgkinson said: “Neil’s decision, and the reversal of his signed commitment to Huddersfield Town, is incredibly disappointing.
“I’m a great believer in honouring a commitment once it has been made and that certainly is not the case with this situation. The club is of the utmost importance, but I feel personally let down too.
“I’ve never had this happen to me in 25 years of working in business. In many ways football is a unique industry, but this is not acceptable to me or to our club. Obviously finding the right chief executive is of paramount
