Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is a charity dedicated to caring for children with life shortening conditions and their families.

They rely on donations from the public as well as money earned from their shops to provide the care that they do.

Commenting on the donation on social media, a hospice spokesman said: “As upsetting as it was, the generosity of the community triumphed and many of you kindly donated towards the cost of the repairs.

“On top of that, our wonderful supporters Excel Industrial Doors fitted a brand-new roller shutter.”

It is understood nothing was stolen in the raid.

INDUSTRIAL automation specialist Sewtec has used a companywide charity raffle to raise £1,800 for two charities.

The funds raised were split equally between Star Bereavement Support Service and Community Awareness Programme, both based in Wakefield.

The charity raffle event saw Sewtec’s 130 employees and their family and friends enter to win prizes donated by the company’s local network. Sewtec designs and manufactures complex industrial automation systems for clients including Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, Imperial Tobacco, Tata Global Beverages and Hershey.

Star Bereavement Support Service provides care and support to children and young people in Wakefield, giving them help to rebuild their lives when someone close to them passes away. Community Awareness Programme’s aim is to help relieve the suffering caused by poverty in the area, whilst raising awareness of the needy in the community.

Sewtec recently announced plans to relocate from its current location in Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, to a 75,000 sq ft facility at Silkwood Park in Wakefield by March 2020, creating more than 70 new jobs in the next three years.

The company already has a design office at Silkwood Park.

Zena Chapman, trustee at Star Bereavement Support Service, said: “I’d like to thank the entire team from Sewtec for the fabulous donation.

“This contribution will enable us to provide 30 additional support sessions to children who are grieving the loss of someone close to them.”

Kevin Dobson, Community Awareness Programme project manager, said: “We’re really grateful for Sewtec’s generous donation.

“A charity like ours relies on fundraising and volunteering from companies and individuals to continue the work we do.”

Sewtec director of business support, Mark Atkins, said: “Community involvement is vitally important to us all at Sewtec. I’m proud of our fundraising efforts.”
