Duo set for Terriers debut against Bees

IT’S been a hectic few days for Huddersfield Town in the January transfer window, coinciding with a worrying trio of 2020 results on the pitch.

Manager Danny Cowley is still bidding to add to his resources over the next couple of weeks - especially with two loan slots still available to fill, most likely from the Premier League.

Richard Stearman has been brought in from Sheffield United on a free transfer and Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal on loan, with both in line to make debuts against Brentford at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

Outgoing rumours seem to centre most solidly around Dutch defender Terence Kongolo, with claims that Fulham are weighing up a move for Town’s record signing, while Adama Diakhaby, Isaac Mbenza and Herbert Bockhorn remain with the Terriers as the club look to line up moves away for them.

Midfielder Reece Brown has joined Peterborough United while, most recently, defender Rarmani Edmonds-Green has gone on loan to Swindon Town for the rest of the season.

So who, exactly, is training with Cowley’s senior squad at PPG Canalside?

Firstly, the players who played more than 45 minutes at Barnsley did not do the full session on Monday, more of a second recovery training day.

So that meant leading scorer Karlan Grant and left-back Jaden Brown - who were taken off at halftime at Oakwell - took part in the full session as preparations began for the Brentford game.

Also in the session were new arrivals Stearman and Smith Rowe. The only players absent on Monday were Alex Pritchard (knee), Collin Quaner (hip) and Tommy Elphick (knee ligament rehabilitation).
